We're excited to announce that a completely new Pastest MRCS Part B resource will be launching at the end of November 2026, bringing you a more engaging, interactive and effective way to prepare for your clinical examination.
The new experience will bring Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills together in one unified learning environment, with improved navigation, interactive learning activities, realistic clinical scenarios and new ways to track your progress.
Whether you're developing your anatomical knowledge, practising clinical reasoning or preparing for the practical and communication elements of the examination, the new MRCS Part B resource will help you prepare with greater confidence.
What's changing?
We're rebuilding MRCS Part B to provide a more structured and interactive learning experience, with several exciting improvements:
- One unified learning experience – Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills will be accessible from the same view, making it easier to move between different areas of your revision.
- More interactive learning – Quizzes, process activities and knowledge checks will help you actively engage with the material.
- More realistic clinical scenarios – Existing oral examination prompts are being developed into more clinically relevant scenarios to better reflect the demands of MRCS Part B.
- Immediate feedback – Receive meaningful feedback throughout your learning to reinforce your understanding and identify areas for improvement.
- Improved content structure – Smaller, manageable sections with clear learning objectives will make it easier to study and monitor your progression.
- 3D anatomy visuals – Explore anatomical structures through detailed 3D visuals to support your understanding of important surgical anatomy.
- Textbook topics – Access structured revision content to strengthen your understanding of key clinical and anatomical concepts.
- New Insights section – Monitor your progress and performance to help identify strengths and areas requiring further revision.
Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills in one place
When you open the new MRCS B product, your core learning resources are organised into a side panel. This makes it easier to move between different types of MRCS B revision without losing your place or constantly navigating away from your main workspace.
From the side panel, you can access your Applied Knowledge and Skills modules, which are designed to help you understand the clinical knowledge, examination approach and reasoning needed for MRCS B-style scenarios.
You can also see a new Insights section which collates your progress and performance across all the modules.
A more interactive way to learn
We're introducing a range of interactive activities designed to make your revision more engaging and effective.
Instead of simply reading through content, you'll be encouraged to actively participate in your learning through:
- Interactive quizzes and knowledge checks to test your understanding and reinforce key concepts.
- Accordions and expandable content to break complex information into manageable sections.
- Process activities to help you understand important clinical procedures, sequences and decision-making.
- Immediate feedback to explain important learning points and help you recognise where further revision may be needed.
These activities will help you build and apply your knowledge as you progress through the resource.
More realistic clinical scenarios
Preparing for MRCS Part B requires more than simply recalling facts. You'll need to demonstrate clinical reasoning, apply your knowledge and communicate effectively in examination scenarios.
As part of the update, we're developing existing oral examination prompts into more realistic, clinically relevant scenarios.
These will encourage you to think through clinical presentations, consider appropriate approaches and apply your knowledge in situations that more closely reflect the demands of the examination.
Our aim is to help bridge the gap between learning the underlying theory and confidently applying it in an examination setting.
Explore anatomy with 3D visuals
A strong understanding of surgical anatomy is essential for MRCS Part B, and we're introducing 3D anatomy visuals to support your revision.
These will help you visualise anatomical structures and understand their spatial relationships, making complex anatomical concepts easier to explore and understand.
Combined with the updated learning activities and clinical scenarios, these visuals will provide another way to reinforce your anatomical knowledge.
New Textbook topics
The new MRCS Part B experience will also introduce Textbook topics, providing structured learning material to support your examination preparation.
These topics will help you build your understanding of important clinical and anatomical concepts, providing useful explanations and supporting information alongside your other revision activities.
This will give you another way to consolidate your knowledge, revisit difficult subjects and strengthen your understanding as you prepare for the examination.
Track your progress with Insights
We're also introducing a new Insights section, giving you a clearer picture of how your MRCS Part B preparation is progressing.
Insights will help you understand:
- How much of the resource you've completed.
- Which areas you've focused on during your revision.
- Where you're demonstrating a good understanding.
- Which topics may benefit from additional attention.
Because MRCS Part B is a clinical examination, Insights will be designed to support your revision rather than predict your performance in the real exam.
By providing a clearer view of your progress and performance, Insights will help you make more informed decisions about where to focus your remaining study time.
Why are we making these changes?
MRCS Part B assesses a combination of applied clinical knowledge, anatomical understanding, practical skills, clinical reasoning and communication.
We want our revision resources to better reflect these requirements and provide a more engaging way to prepare.
The new MRCS Part B experience is being developed to help you:
- Learn through more interactive and engaging activities.
- Apply your knowledge to realistic clinical scenarios.
- Develop a stronger understanding of surgical anatomy.
- Navigate your revision materials more easily.
- Receive useful feedback as you study.
- Track your progress and identify areas for improvement.
Ultimately, our aim is to give you a more connected, structured and effective way to prepare for MRCS Part B.
When will the new MRCS Part B resource be available?
The new MRCS Part B experience is scheduled to launch at the end of November 2026.
If you already have an active MRCS Part B subscription that extends beyond 15 December 2026, the new resource will automatically be added to your Pastest account at no additional cost.
You'll be able to access the new experience alongside your existing resource during the transition period, giving you an opportunity to explore the updated content and familiarise yourself with the new layout.
What happens to the existing MRCS Part B resource?
As part of this update, the current MRCS Part B resource will be retired on 15 December 2026.
This means:
- Until 15 December 2026: You can continue using your existing MRCS Part B resource as normal.
- From the end of November 2026: The new MRCS Part B experience will become available, with eligible existing subscribers receiving access automatically.
- From 15 December 2026: The existing MRCS Part B resource will no longer be available, and you'll need to use the new version to continue your revision.
If your current subscription extends beyond 15 December 2026, your access to the new resource will continue until your original subscription expiry date. You won't lose any remaining subscription time or need to make another purchase.
Will my existing progress transfer to the new resource?
No. Your learning progress and activity history from the existing MRCS Part B resource will not transfer to the new version.
Because the new experience has been completely rebuilt, with a different content structure and new interactive activities, you'll start with a fresh progress record when you begin using it.
You can continue accessing your previous progress within the existing resource until 15 December 2026. After this date, the old resource and its associated progress history will no longer be accessible.
We recommend reviewing any important progress information before the existing resource is retired and exploring the new experience as soon as it becomes available.
We appreciate that this is a significant change, but we're confident the improved learning experience, interactive content and new Insights section will provide a more effective way to prepare for your examination.
We're looking forward to introducing these improvements and helping you get even more from your MRCS Part B preparation.
