Your updated MSRA experience is coming

During the week of 21 September 2026, we’re updating the Pastest MSRA resource to give you a more modern learning experience that's better suited to the two different parts of the MSRA exam.

The updated resource will bring Clinical Problem Solving into our latest Pastest study experience, alongside a dedicated Professional Dilemmas area designed specifically for the different question formats used in this part of the exam.

What is changing?

The MSRA is unusual because its two papers use different styles of questions. Because of this, you'll now have two dedicated ways to study within your MSRA resource.

Clinical Problem Solving

Your Clinical Problem Solving Qbank and Past Papers will move into our latest question interface.

As well as providing an updated study experience, this connects Clinical Problem Solving with our Textbook, making it easier to move between practising questions and learning or revisiting the underlying clinical topics.

You'll be able to:

• Practise Clinical Problem Solving questions using our latest Qbank experience
• Complete Clinical Problem Solving Past Papers
• Access the MSRA Textbook to strengthen your knowledge of key clinical topics
• Move more easily between learning and question practice

Professional Dilemmas

Professional Dilemmas uses different question formats from Clinical Problem Solving, so it will have its own dedicated area within your MSRA resource.

From the Professional Dilemmas view, you'll be able to launch interactive question packages covering the situational judgement-style questions you'll need to practise for this part of the exam.

You'll still be able to prepare for both parts of the MSRA from the same Pastest resource – we're simply giving each paper an experience better suited to the way its questions work.

Why are we making this change?

We've been developing a newer Pastest study experience that brings question practice and learning much closer together.

Moving Clinical Problem Solving into this experience means MSRA candidates can benefit from the same improvements, including integration with our Textbook.

Professional Dilemmas requires a different approach because of its question and scoring formats. Giving it a dedicated experience allows us to continue supporting these question types while keeping both parts of your MSRA preparation together in one resource.

This update also gives us a stronger foundation for continuing to improve the MSRA resource in the future.

What happens to my existing progress?

Your previous Professional Dilemmas question performance will not transfer to the new Professional Dilemmas experience.

We appreciate that existing users may find this inconvenient, particularly if you've already completed a significant amount of practice.

The change only affects your previous Professional Dilemmas performance data. Once the updated resource launches, you'll be able to start working through the new Professional Dilemmas content and track your progress from there.

If there is anything from your existing Professional Dilemmas performance that you'd like to refer back to, we recommend reviewing it before the change takes place.

How will Professional Dilemmas questions be scored?

The scoring you see when completing Professional Dilemmas activities is intended to help you practise the skills and decision-making required for the paper.

Because of the way the official MSRA Professional Dilemmas paper is scored, your score within the Pastest activities may not directly correspond to the score you would receive in the real exam.

We therefore recommend using these activities primarily to practise your approach, understand the reasoning behind the answers and identify areas where you can improve, rather than treating the score as a direct prediction of your exam result.

Why are you changing the resource before the next exam?

We know that changing the way you study in the run-up to an exam can be disruptive, so we've deliberately planned the update well ahead of the main January and February MSRA sittings.

This gives you several months to become familiar with the updated layout and the new Professional Dilemmas experience before your exam.

We've also kept the structure straightforward: when you study, you'll be able to switch between Clinical Problem Solving and Professional Dilemmas, so it's always clear which part of the MSRA you're preparing for.

What do I need to do?

You don't need to purchase a new resource or make any changes to your account.

When the update goes live, simply open your existing MSRA resource and you'll see the new experience.

We recommend taking a little time to explore both the Clinical Problem Solving and Professional Dilemmas areas when they become available, particularly if you've already started your MSRA preparation.

A better foundation for your MSRA preparation

We recognise that any change to a familiar study experience takes a little getting used to, particularly when you're preparing for an important exam.

The updated MSRA resource has been designed to give each part of the exam an experience that suits it, while bringing Clinical Problem Solving into our latest learning environment and connecting it more closely with the Pastest Textbook.

We hope this gives you an even more useful way to combine learning, question practice and exam preparation as you work towards your MSRA.
